Göttingen: Steidl Publishers, 2004.

Hardcover. First edition. Oblong folio; unpaginated; illustrated throughout with color and duotone photographs; text clean and bright; red endpapers; tightly bound in tan hessian boards with pasted photo; in fine condition. Mylar dust jacket with significant sunning along lower edge and spine; 2” tears along lower spine and upper right corner; chipping to bottom edge and lower corner; wearing along top edge; scuffing and scoring to front and back flaps; fair. No slipcase present. McDean calls this collection Lifescapes rather than landscapes because the images represent his private views--vignettes from his own travels, his road trips across the world. For each image, he picked five or six different shots and merged them into one, doing so in a limited amount of time to maintain a feeling of spontaneity. McDean captures the American fascination with iconographic architecture while paying attention to lines, angles and conflicting imagery.
