12 mo.; encased in a wooden sycamore binding (Mauchline ware), with five front-cover illustrations: “Scene on the Doon,” “Aud Brig O’Doon,” “Burns’ Monument,” “Alloway Kirk,” and “Burns’ Cottage.”  Below the illustrations is stamped: “Warranted Made of Wood which Grew Within the Railing at Burns’ Monument”; on the rear cover appears the illustration “Culzean”; brown cloth spine stamped in gilt; five raised bands; edges gilt.

Collected edition.  A presentation copy, inscribed: “Presented by the Trustees of Burns Monument Ayr To General U.S. Grant on the occasion of his visit to the Land of Burns 14 September 1877,” on the front free endpaper.
